Why is Undivided Faith making a new member status after nearly a decade as a Raider-only guild?
As AA have become easier to acquire, most of our core membership has become maxed out. This has left little for people to do outside of raid times. Our non-raid populations have not been where we would like them. Also, many of our members have friends or family that are in portal guilds because they are not 'raiders'. We'd like for those members to have the opportunity to share their guild tag with their friends and family without those folks being required to raid.
So what is the difference between Raider and Casual membership?
We will still have no raid attendance requirement. However, Raiders will be expected to raid if they are online while raids are being conducted. Casual members who are online during a raid may raid IF there is room and IF they want to. CASUAL MEMBERS HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO RAID. Depending on class needs, there might be times an officer will ask if they'd like to raid, but they can still say no. Outside of those rare instances, the onus will always be on a Casual member to ask if there is room in a raid and if they can join. Casual members will also need to understand they may be asked to leave a raid if its overfull for Raiders, Raider applicants, or alliance members that log on during a raid.
Will Casual members be able to vote?
Casual members will be able to vote on other Casual members ONLY and only after they have been members for 6 months.
Do Casual members have any responsibilities during raid times?
Only 1. You are forbidden from changing the guild portal during raid times. You may change it if you have a bot you're able to immediately change it back with or if another Casual player or bot of a Raider is in the hall and able to immediately change it back for you. Make sure you have sent a tell to the other player so they know to change the portal back. We take this very seriously.
So I could become a Casual member and just raid when I want to get loot?
Casual members will be at the bottom of the priority list for determining loot (unless they were asked and agreed to come raid due to raid needs). So its possible that Casual players will get some raid loot, but it will most likely only be rot-level loot. We are generous folks and we hate to see raid loot rot, but you should not expect to get raid loot as a Casual member.
Are there different requirements for Raider or Casual applications?
Casual applicants have no class restrictions and must be within 10 levels of the current Raider level requirement (currently 88). Raiders have level and class requirements. Also, Raiders will require 20 votes to be voted in while Casuals will only require 10. This disparity in vote requirements is because the majority of our players are Raiders and will likely have little opportunity to interact with Casual applicants.
What if I apply as a Casual but decide I'd like to be a Raider during my application period?
If you meet the class and level requirements, you can make the change to your application status if you have not yet gone to vote (21 days after you get your UF tag). However, if you do not meet the class and level requirements or if your application has already gone to vote, you cannot change your application status.
So I can just apply as a Casual if I don't meet the Raider requirements, but really want to raid?
NO. CASUAL MEMBERSHIP SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED AS A BACKDOOR TO RAIDER MEMBERSHIP. Casuals can only raid if there is room and will be the first people asked to leave overfull situations, so if you love raiding, becoming a Casual member is not the optimal way to go.
Is there a way to change from Casual to Raider status?
Yes, but it is a long and difficult process. After you have been a full member for 3 months, you may inform an officer that you wish to be considered for status change to Raider. The officers will then take some time to decide if this will be allowed. This decision will be based on multiple factors including raid attendance and performance and class needs. Because of this, it may take some time for the officers to have enough experience with the player to know whether this is a reasonable request. If it is deemed reasonable, then that person's status will be changed to Raider applicant, and they will have 6 weeks to obtain 15 votes (or 5 vetoes) to change status to Raider. If they do not obtain those votes or get vetoed OR if the officers determine that they are not yet able to change their status, they may remain a Casual member and try again in 3 months or they may drop the UF tag. There is no guarantee that you'll be able to change status or that you'll be successful in doing so, so please DO NOT VIEW CASUAL MEMBERSHIP AS A BACKDOOR TO RAIDER MEMBERSHIP. If you want to raid but do not meet the class requirements, you're much better off trying to find a sponsor or waiting until your class opens up.
I'm a Raider member. Can I switch to Casual status?
Yes. But please make sure this is really what you want to do. After your become Casual, going back to Raider status will require the same process that other Casual members must go through. That is, you must get approval from the officers then become a Raider applicant and get the required 15 votes. We really don't want people bouncing back and forth in their status.
Will I be a second-class citizen as a Casual member?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. We consider all members to be equal EXCEPT when it comes to raiding.
I have questions about this that aren't answered here.
All questions can be directed to officers and particularly Zarax. This is new for us, too, so situations may arise here that we did not foresee. If those situations arise, the officers will handle them on a case by case basis and updates to this F.A.Q. will be made.
